Asian Style Flower Designs (Redux)

Couple of design redos from Ming Tees that were kicking around for awhile and badly in need of a makeover. Top left is a Chinese Peony design, symbol of wealth, love, sex, marriage, and good fortune, inspired by Chinese tapestries and brocade textiles, and we added a Double Happiness symbol as well. Top right is a badly needed redo of an Iris flower design inspired by Japanese graphics and textiles, has a bit of a tropical feel now.

Chinese Lotus Medallion with Bats and Flowers

Ming Tees hacked up another new design that got way out of control and overdone. Gotta get simpler quick. Turning Ming Tees into a surf and sport shop soon I think. But the old lotus medallion alone was up for a redo. This design inspired by a few different Chinese tapestries. Lotus medallion, funky peony and lotus flowers, leaves, and my beloved bats.

Nouveau Style Rose

Ming Tees has been AWOL for awhile,(and hope one and all had a wonderful holiday season. but back with lots of new shirts and designs. New overhauled website, Ming Tees Blog, lots of new shirts and products.

I didn’t quite know what to call this. The circle type design was adapted from a Japanese design, but instead of a flower, it had a bird instead. So i picked a rose after looking at Mucha print i liked, as Art Nouveau was so strongly influenced by Japanese design and woodblock prints. So it’s sort of Japanese, sort of Art Nouveau-ish with the linework and curves. And the rose type and color was inspired by some photos of a type of rose i shoot obsessively whenever they’re in bloom, but i don’t know what the name of it is.
